01 / Demand forecasting

Know how full a night will be before it fills.

Every rate decision starts with one question: how much demand is there for this date? Bichanakya answers it for each future night, and keeps answering as new bookings, cancellations and events arrive.

What the forecast reads

Six signals, weighed together.

No single signal is trusted on its own. A festival that is not selling rooms matters less than a quiet Tuesday that suddenly is.

Booking pace

How quickly each date is picking up compared with how similar dates filled at the same distance from arrival. The strongest early signal there is.

Local events

Conferences, concerts, exhibitions, sporting fixtures and festivals near your property, matched to the dates they affect.

Seasonality

Month, holiday and school-break patterns from your own history, so the forecast knows your peak and shoulder seasons.

Day of week

Leisure hotels peak on weekends, business hotels midweek. The forecast learns which pattern is yours.

Lead time

How far ahead your guests book. A date 60 days out with few bookings can be perfectly normal, or a warning.

Cancellations

Expected cancellations and no-shows are part of the outlook, so rooms on the books are not all treated as certain.

Pace, explained

The curve that spots a spike early.

For every arrival date, Bichanakya compares bookings on hand today with a reference pickup curve built from comparable dates. When a date runs ahead of its curve, demand is building, even if nobody has announced why.

  • Ahead of curveSupports a higher rate. Usually the first sign of an event or group.
  • On curveDemand is behaving as expected. Rate stays close to plan.
  • Behind curvePickup is soft. A modest reduction can stimulate bookings while there is still time.

Honest about uncertainty

A range, not just a number.

A forecast for next Saturday is firmer than one for a Saturday three months away. Bichanakya shows how confident each forecast is, and rate suggestions become more assertive only as that confidence grows.
